Hostels Facilities

Well-furnished Executive hostel and Trainee hostel with modern lodging and boarding facilities are available to accommodate about 415 trainees at NPTI, Nagpur from Annual Report 2022-23 21 Infrastructural Facilities and Training Simulators Complex, at Nagpur. An international hostel with 24 double bedded rooms is the latest addition to the Corporate Office Campus. Well-furnished hostels are also available at the institute, where modern and hygienic lodging and boarding facilities are available. The hostel accommodation is provided to the trainees only for the period of training course. The Institute has the facility of separate Girls Hostel. Recreation and indoor sports facilities like Table Tennis, Badminton, Carom, Chess etc. are available for trainees in Hostel, creating a congenial atmosphere of a Home away from Home.

Labs

Internet-accessible computer labs with the newest setups are available. In order to continuously improve their computer skills and learn new material pertaining to the power sector, students are urged to make significant use of these resources both during and after class. To further advance toward a high-tech, IT-driven paperless office, each officer has also been given a computer, Internet access, and a LAN connection for data and file exchange.

Laboratories/Workshops

To provide off-the-job, practical training in the maintenance elements, the laboratories and workshops are necessary. All cadres, including technicians, operators, and engineers, can receive training in a variety of areas related to power generation, transmission distribution, and operation from the institute’s well-equipped laboratories and workshops.

Some of the areas where expertise has been built up are:

• Control and Instrumentation Laboratories with facilities for testing, calibration and repairs of different types of process control instrument
• Workshops for training and skill development in Fitting, carpentry, smithy, welding, machine shop, foundry etc.
• Electrical laboratories with facilities for testing of relays, electrical equipments, insulating oils etc., along with repairs as per requirement.
• Power System Studies Laboratories are equipped with Transmission and Distribution System Software where studies such as load flow analysis, short circuit studies, transient stability studies, relay coordination studies, optimal capacitor placement, network reduction and optimal separation point can be conducted. Also, these system-based software training in labs have the following simulators for analysis:
  • 210MW simulator training
  • 210/500/800 MW multi-functional simulator trainin

Models

Many functional and non-functional models of the major primary systems and equipment of thermal power plants, hydro power plants, and power systems specifically, gas turbine, governing system bowl mill, pulverized fuel fired boiler ,etc. are available at of the NPTI, Nagpur.

Library

The library at the NPTI is well-stocked with books and video programs on a variety of topics, including industrial relations, management, science, power generation, transmission, and distribution technology. It is a subscriber to several technical journals and publications published in India and beyond. Modern library is available at our institute, and they are stocked with a vast array of books and multimedia videos on various subjects, including Chemistry, Control and Instrumentation, Electronics, Computers, Management, and Power Station Technology. Additionally, in order to stay up to date on the most recent advancements in engineering and technology, these libraries subscribe to a wide range of Indian and international magazines and journals.

Seminar Hall

They have auditorium/ conference hall and classrooms with most modern amenities for conducting the training programs, conferences, seminars and workshops. The institute has the capability of holding video conferences.
