Hyperlinking Policy – National Power Training Institute (NPTI) Website
The Hyperlinking Policy establishes the rules and guidelines for creating, managing, and using hyperlinks on the NPTI website. The policy ensures that links provided are relevant, reliable, and secure, while protecting NPTI’s integrity and reputation.
1. Objective
- To provide clear guidance on hyperlinking to internal and external websites.
- To ensure that external links included on the NPTI website are relevant, authentic, and beneficial to users.
- To regulate linking from external websites to the NPTI portal.
2. Internal Hyperlinks
- Internal hyperlinks will connect users to various sections and subsections within the NPTI website.
- Internal linking must ensure ease of navigation, accessibility, and consistency across the site.
- Broken or outdated internal links must be corrected within 48 hours of detection.
3. External Hyperlinks
- The NPTI website may include hyperlinks to Government of India portals, statutory bodies, educational institutions, and other official agencies that are directly relevant to the institute’s objectives.
- External links will open in a new browser window/tab to clearly differentiate them from NPTI’s own content.
- NPTI is not responsible for the content, reliability, or security of linked external websites.
- Links to private or commercial websites will not be included, unless explicitly approved for educational/training purposes by the Director General, NPTI.
4. Linking to NPTI Website
- External websites may link to the NPTI homepage or specific sections only after obtaining prior written permission from NPTI.
- Such links must not:
- Misrepresent NPTI or its objectives.
- Present content in a misleading or derogatory manner.
- Suggest NPTI’s endorsement of products, services, or organizations.
- NPTI reserves the right to request removal of unauthorized or inappropriate links at any time.
5. Broken Links & Maintenance
- The Web Information Manager (WIM) and technical team will regularly monitor all hyperlinks on the website.
- Broken or non-functional links will be reported, corrected, or removed promptly.
- Quarterly link-check reports will form part of the website’s review process.
6. Roles & Responsibilities
- Content Contributors: Suggest relevant external links with justification during content submission.
- Web Information Manager (WIM): Review and approve hyperlinks before publishing.
- Technical Team: Ensure hyperlink accuracy, functionality, and compliance with accessibility standards.
7. Policy Review
- This Hyperlinking Policy will be reviewed annually to ensure alignment with evolving government website guidelines and institutional needs.
