History and Facts

NPTI (NER), Guwahati is responsible for overall Human Resource Development of Eight North Eastern States. We have been conducting training programs for in- service higher echelons of Power Sector as well as to the lower level personnel. NPTI (NER) was established in 2003 at temporary site Narengi, Guwahati. Later, it shifted to 15 Acre permanent campus in 2009 at Dakingaon Road, Guwahati. The permanent campus was inaugurated by the then Power Minister, Govt. of India on October, 2009.

Major Events :

• Smt. Nandita Gorlosa, Hon’ble Power Minister of Assam visited the Institute as the Chief Guest on 22-May-2023 and inaugurated 80 seater Seminar Hall of NPTI (NER). Shri. Ajay Tewari -IAS, Addl. Secretary, Ministry of Power, Govt. of India has also graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. Shri. Debajyoti Das, Managing Director, Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Ltd. was also present as Guest of Honour.
• Shri. Jishnu Barua- IAS, Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority visited this Institute on 27-August-2023.
• Major General (Retd.) AVSM, VSM Shri. Rajesh Kumar Jha, Director (Personnel) has visited this Institute on 08-January-2024 and Inaugurated 16/12 Weeks Re-Skilling Course for NEEPCO Officials conducted at NPTI (NER), Guwahati.

• NPTI (NER) conducts Workshops and many Capacity Building programs which has wide outreach and participations from all parts of the country. Such programs are sponsored by different companies for their Senior, Middle and Junior level Officials. Corporates and Companies from Power Sector sponsor in these programs for their wider publicity and outreach. For last 2 years, NPTI (NER) has participation for one week capacity building program on “Solar PV Power Plant and Grid Integration (Design, DPR Preparation, Grid Integration, Tariff and AI in Solar). Similarly, we are conducting one week capacity building program on “Open Access, Power Trading, Tariff and Forecasting” where almost more that fifty participants are attending the program. Six such program are being conducted where eminent faculty across India delivers lecture in the session. Some of the key experts of this programme are Mr. Satyajit Ganguly, MD & CEO, Power Exchange India Ltd (PXIL), Dr. Rohit Verma, Director and HOI, NPTI-NER, Shri. Amit Kumar, MD, Altilium Energie, Mr. Prabhajit Kr. Sarkar, Founder & CEO, Ampera Energy and former MD & CEO of PXIL, Mr. Mayank Gupta, Sr. Vice President, Indian Energy Exchange, Mr. Naveen Singh, Former Vice President- Business Development & Regulatory Affairs, Hindustan Power Exchange India Ltd. NPTI (NER) has conducted 42 nos. of flagship programs in last financial year 2023-24.

  NPTI (NER) is now looking forward for overall Human Resource Development of all eight NER States for higher echelons of Power Sector as well as to the lower level personnel.

  NPTI (NER), Guwahati has MOU with IIT Guwahati for capacity building and faculty exchange programs. We have very good faculty exchange in the areas of Cyber Security, Data Science , Solar PV Power Plant etc.
