Message from Head of Institute

It gives me immense pleasure as Head of Institute of the oldest thermal station personnel training Institute established in 1965 at Neyveli, Tamil Nadu successfully entering in the 6th decade of its service. Being located in the Block-14 of Neyveli Township NPTI is well connected to Chennai (210 KM), Chidambaram (40 KM). NPTI , Neyveli is spread across an area of 48 Acres with all amenities like air-conditioned classrooms, Auditorium, RE Lab, Models and charts of Power Plant Auxiliaries, Guest House, Officers/ Staff quarters, Library and playground. Being located in the vicinity of the Asia’s largest Lignite open Mines and highly qualified experts from NPTI, NLCIL, ICAR, BHEL,TNEB, TAQA, ILFS , LANCO Tanjore training programs are conducted in many areas of Thermal, Nuclear, Hydro and Combined Cycle Power including onsite programs. Recently, NPTI, Neyveli has been sanctioned Renewable Energy Laboratory with a Simulator for a cost of 24.91 crores adding a jewel to the crown. NPTI , Neyveli has conducted 32 batches of PGDC in Power Plant Engineering and 20+ batches of Post Diploma courses and the trainees are placed in prestigious power companies like Adani, Recently NPTI has signed an MoU with Neyveli Lignite Corporation of India Limited for the sponsoring the dependents of Project Affected Person (PAP) and Non PAP in the Post Graduate Diploma Course and Post Diploma course in Power Plant Engineering. NPTI, Neyveli has trained more than 1000 diploma engineers from various poly technic Institute under the state sponsored ‘Naan Mudalvan’ Scheme. Also more than 100 participants of DDUGKY have been placed after training in Surya Mitra program. I am sure that these training programs have contributed well to the power allied sectors and Renewable Energy. I’m sure that the nearby plant visits on Lignite based Thermal Power stations, solar PV, floating solar, SCADA, coal mine visits give a better insight and clarity for the trainees.
