NPTI (PSTI), Bangalore has emerged as one of the few of its kind in India, in imparting training in all facets of Power System Operation to fresh and serving engineers of all the State/ Regional Electricity Boards and Power Supply Undertakings in the country. NPTI (PSTI) conducts various Long Term Academic Courses on “Transmission and Distribution Systems”, “Smart Grid Technologies” and “Power System Operation”. Throughout the year several short term courses on various aspects of Power Systems viz. Generation, Transmission, Distribution, Operation & Mtce. and testing of Power System Equipments, Protection of Power System etc. are being conducted at this Institute. NPTI (PSTI) provides Multifunction Simulator Training replicating the real-time integrated Unit operations for 210 MW, 500 MW, 800 MW Thermal Power Plants. Also, NPTI (PSTI) conducts various levels of training programs (Job Role 1, 2, 3 & 4) under RDSS (Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme) launched by the Govt. of India to improve the quality and reliability of power supply to consumers for the engineers of DISCOMs’ across India.
As per the guidance of Ministry of Power, Govt. of India and with an approval from CEA, NPTI (PSTI) with an objective to train the Graduate Engineers in System Operation aspects with exposure on generation, transmission, distribution, protection, electricity markets and management has announced a set of Specialised Short Term Courses for executives of Load Despatch Centres at its Institutes at PSTI, Bangalore. These are: on “POWER SYSTEM OPERATION” and Specialist level courses for Certified System Operators on “REGULATORY FRAMEWORK”, “POWER SYSTEM RELIABILITY”, “POWER SYSTEM LOGISTICS”, “RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES AND GRID INTEGRATION ISSUES” AND “POWER MARKET SPECIALIST”.
NPTI (PSTI), Bangalore has conducted four batches of training programs for Workmen, Junior Engineers and Engineers of Odisha Mining Corporation Limited, Bhubaneshwar on “Electrical Safety and Inspection of Electrical Installations, Accidents Prevention, Recent Trends for Mining Industry”. Also NPTI (PSTI) conducts “Lightning Protection Adequacy Study Audit” for various Mines of India to carryout lightning protection system study as per DGMS The Mines Rescue Rule 1985, OISD 180 & IS/IEC 62305 and physical inspection of the Mines, equipments, structures, vessels, electronic installations from the lightning protection point of view.
